S. Pamir Alpay
S. Pamir Alpay He received his B.S. (1990) and M.S. (1993) from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering of the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey, and his Ph.D. (1999) from the Department of Materials Engineering of the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. Dr. Alpay worked as a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Maryland for 1.5 years. He joined the faculty of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the University of Connecticut in 2001 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor with academic tenure in 2007. Dr. Alpay is the recipient of the National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award (2001), the Outstanding Junior Faculty Award of the School of Engineering, University of Connecticut (2004), and a NATO-A1 doctoral scholarship (1994). His publications include over 80 papers in various journals, over 20 papers in refereed conference proceedings, and three invited book chapters. Dr. Alpay also co-authored a book entitled, Graded Ferroelectrics, Transpacitors, and Transponents, with Joseph V. Mantese in 2005. He served as a co-organizer or session chair in several international conferences and is a member of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
