Alevtina Smirnova, Ph.D.
Dr. Alevtina Smirnova is an Assistant Research Professor in the Chemical, Materials, and Biomolecular Engineering Department. She received her B.S.-M.S. integrated degree in Chemistry and Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry of the St. Petersburg State University, RF. Dr. Smirnova is a co-editor of the book “Fuel cell Technologies: State and perspectives”. She has more than 150 publications including book chapters, and papers in refereed journals and proceedings; more than 100 presentations at National and International conferences and 4 patents. In 2007 she has been recognized as the top reviewer of the Elsevier Journal of Power Sources. In 2006 she has been awarded by the State of Michigan’s King-Chavez-Parks foundation for the series of lectures presented at MichiganTech in fuel cells and fuel cell materials. In 1999 she received the Highest Honor Professor Award from Scientific Council of St. Petersburg State University in R&D of Chemical Sensors for medical, biological, and environmental applications. In 1989 she has been recognized by the International George Soros Foundation and received an award for the achievements in modeling and fundamental understanding of Chemical Sensors mechanisms and performance. In 1979 she has been honored to receive the Highest Student Honor Award from St. Petersburg State University, RF. Since 2003 Dr. Smirnova is affiliated with the UConn CGFCC CGFCC-Fuel Cell Center Affiliation
