5 CMBE Faculty Members and 3 CMBE Graduate Students Receive Awards From the Center for Environmental Science & Engineering (CESE) (cont.)
In the past, CESE has offered competitive awards to graduate students who have developed a multidisciplinary environmental research proposal that includes mentors from two different disciplines or departments. In the previous two years CESE has funded 40 graduate students, with a total direct costs for research amounting to approximatrely $185,000 and continues to support multidisciplinary research and collaboration by UConn faculty members and students. Based on recommendations from a faculty rview committee, CESE is currently in the process of making about twenty new awards totaling $85,000. Five CMBE faculty members, Drs. Richard Parnas, Leon Shaw, Mark Aindow, Yu Lei, and Jeffrey McCutcheon and three CMBE graduate students, Liang Su, Ngoc Thi-Nhu Bui and Ying Wang have been involved in successful awards this year. Please congratulate them for their efforts in promoting exciting new research related to the environment.
